Terrain trace?

I'm loving CC3 so far. One question though. I've made my landmass, and I've figured out how to add contours and symbols, as well as use the fill terrain. I want to make the northern part of my continent a snowy terrain to represent the colder climate. Is it possible to make the terrain fill conform to the borders of the original continent? I don't want my white area spilling out into the ocean, or having bits of green around the edge.

    Yes...
When drawing using a terrain tool, after placing the first node, you should see that the option T-Trace appears in the command line. Hit t on the keyboard to start tracing, then pick the line to trace, finally set starting and ending points for the trace, then continue on with drawing the rest of the shape. Just look at the command line, and it will tell you what do do for each step.

The only thing you need to be aware of when you select the entity to trace, is that you must select it by clicking on a part of it's border that will be "covered" by the trace. CC3 uses the selection point to determine which way around a polygon the trace should go.

  • No problems. I finally figured it out. Thanks for the help!

Until recently, I didn't even realize this was an option. I guess I really should try out each annual as it comes -- I suspect this was probably showcased in one of the early annuals that dealt with political boundries.
