Node Edit - Doesn't Always Work

Ok, I am working on a castle - and I want to remove part of an existing wall. I have used the node edit buttons for this, on this same drawing. However, for some nodes the buttons just don't work. In fact, I just used Delete Node on one wall and then right net to it the button had no effect. (Usually, I notice the drawing "blink" when the node edit buttons do not work.) None of the drawing's layers are fixed, btw.

Any notion why this is so?

Thanks,

Don

  • "list" the information about the entity -- click on the node you're trying to edit. Take a look and make sure that:
    1) You're editing the entity that you think you're editing
    2) The entity is an unsmooth poly

If both of those are true, maybe post the results of your list, or post the map so we can take a look.

  • I have tried hiding everything but the layer I am working on - "Walls," in this case.

I will try to post the map here - if it works, the area in particular I am trying to edit is in the lower left area, inside the red circle.

    Thanks!

  • It is weird how the Node Edits work on some nodes and not on others. On the map I posted above, the edit did not work on the node circled, but it did work on the nodes just to the right and above the circle.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Did you perchance, use multipoly on the walls? If so then you can't use the node edit afterwards.
If you explode the walls you can edit the nodes, and then use multipoly to fill them in when you're done.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can give more details.
  • I am editing one of the castles that is included in the Castles add-on. I don't know how it was originally drawn.

At this point, I am trying to become more familiar with the program by playing around with copies of the castles done by Profantasy. Maybe I will get comfortable enough to design my own! LOL

I may have to live with the parts I cannot edit. I need to figure out Multipoly - I have not used it yet.

Leonal is correct here. That wall is created using multipoly, which means you must explode it before using node editing commands on it.
  • Ok, thanks! I will play around with that and see if I can totally screw up a cool castle drawing! (Glad I am playing with copies, not the originals!)
