Drawing modern asphalt roads

Does anyone have a good suggestion for drawing modern, asphalt roads? I found a good effect was a moderate gray that is overlayed with the asphalt texture. The only problem with this is that I usually need to draw the road twice (or copy the road), change sheets to make sure the asphalt texture is above the background road color, then change the color. Is there an easier way to do this or is it finally time to learn.......macros.

Any suggestions people have for drawing modern roads more easily I would appreciate greatly.

Try using the "Texturize" effect on your roads. This should allow you to add a texture to your road without having two entities.

Ok, I look at the picture attached to the modern pack and I'm trying to duplicate the photo attached. Is there a way to draw the road in, with the center line and white boarders. I can only find a road with a solid center line but no borders. I'm not sure if I have to draw the boarders manually after planting the road or is there a way to make the advanced settings put them in?

You'll need to draw them yourself. There are separate tools available for the road markings.
