Not sure what to call this topic - Crossover tool use?
Is there any way to get tools from an overland mapping style to work in a city map?
Specifically, I want to use the forest fill tool from Jon Roberts Overland style in a map of a city. My map is large and shows a fair amount of territory outside the actual city walls and I want to use the tool I mentioned to make forests.
I tried to figure out the Fill with Symbols tool (under Drawing menu) but have not a clue how to make it work. It would be a good item for a tutorial! LOL
Thanks,
Don

1. Sheets and sheet order. Drawing tools usually use predetermined sheets. If the sheet doesn't exist in the drawing, it will be created, but will be placed at the bottom of the sheet list, meaning it can end up overlapping stuff it is supposed to go under. Easily fixed my manually changing sheet order after using the tool for the first time.
2. Fill styles. Fill style references are stored in the template, and most templates doesn't contain fill styles needed for different styles. Easily fixed by creating a new (empty) map in the style the tool belong, then opening the map where you wish to use this tool, use Draw -> Insert File to insert the new map you created, then immediately do Edit -> Undo after placing the object. This removes the map you just inserted (since you don't really want it inside your other map), but leaves the fill styles behind for the drawing tools to use.
Maybe it overwrote the changes I had made with the tools I "inserted"?
I hit undelete to remove the file, it goes away fine but all my customized for scale fills get blurry.

Don't spend a lot of time thinking about it. Probably something unique on my end.
