DD3 - Wallcutter?

A very nice tool, but it simply doesn't work half the time.

A drew up a nice, large room, and used the wallcutter to remove part of it. That worked fine. But through the last hour, no matter what I've done, it won't do anything to the rest of the walls in the room. Doors don't work either. It's like the program doesn't know there is a wall there anymore.

Have you disabled smart symbols? Wall cutting features requires smart symbols to be enabled. To access the setting, right click in the map while you have a symbol selected for placement.
  • No, the smart symbols are enabled. And the tool still works on other rooms.

I'll attach the file. It's the wall between the red brick square and the stare on the inside that has to be removed.

hmm.. Interesting. I hope Ralf or someone else can explain this, because I am at a loss. It seems that smart symbols does not work on that part of the wall. However, they work right around the corner, which is part of the same entity. Furthermore, I couldn't get the regular Break command to work on that part of the wall either.

I did find a workaround though. Just use the Split image command somewhere else on the wall (like the wall on the opposite side of the room), and now the wall cutter works nicely. Split puts an invisible break into the wall, changing it from a closed polygon to a line.

Somehow the path comprising the room's wall became corrupt. If you do a Numeric Edit on it, you'll see that most of its nodes are doubled-up.

I'd just delete the room wall and redraw it using the Wall drawing tools.
  • Interesting. Thanks for your help! :)
