Selecting and copying landmasses between maps

Sorry for the noob question, but I am totally stuck. I created a large world map with four continents. I would like to copy each continental landmass and create a separate, more detailed map for each. I have gone through the manual and other forum postings, on copying landmasses and nothing works. Specifically - How can I select one landmass on map 1 and then paste it into map 2?

Thanks for any assistance from the community.

    1. Open map 1
    2. Edit -> Copy
    3. Select the continent by clicking on it's outline. The command line should tell you how many entities are selected. It should be more than 0
    4. Right Click -> Select Do It
    5. CC3 asks for clipboard origin. Unless you have a specific location in mind, just click in the middle of your continent.
    6. Open map 2
    7. Edit -> Paste
    8. Click anywhere in the map to place the copy of the continent
  • That worked! Many thanks for your help.

    If I try to do as you described above fcw32.exe crashs.

    The reason therefor was that the line which I want to copy was on a sheet which just exists on the source map and not on the target.
    So if you have the same problem just move the stuff to COMMON sheet, then do as Monsen discribed above and then move the stuff to the right target sheet.

    With best regards
