Breaking a cone-shaped arrow slit in to a wall

I'm fairly certain I'm missing something simple, but I can't see it. I'm re-creating an old map from a gaming product (the map of The Citadel from the Player's Secrets of Hogunmark book) in CC3 (DD3, CD3, SS3 loaded), and I can't figure out how to 'break' the cone shaped arrow slits in to the walls. There are arrow slits in the wall features, but they're graphical, when I'd prefer to just have a cone-shaped opening in the .5 line-width wall - sort of like breaking a wall opening in a wall.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks!

Bill

I'm sorry, there's no function to create cone shaped arrow slits quickly and easily. In fact it's impossible to do if your walls are paths/lines, as breaking them will always result in parallel edges. You'd need to draw walls as polygons to make this possible.

If you have the Annual 2010, take a look at the "Castle Walls" issue. It has commands for this type of drawing.

Otherwise, I'd suggest not to actually break the walls, but create the arrow slits with a different texture:

    - Create a new sheet, just above the WALLS sheet, e.g. WALLS SLITS.
    - Select a bitmap fill style that offsets from your walls nicely. Set the current layer to WALL FEATURES and freeze it.
    - Zoom into one of your walls and draw the arrow slit on top of it, using the selected bitmap fill.
    - As long as your walls are all the same width, you can now use the COPY command to make copies of your arrow slit wherevery they are needed. Draw new slits for wider or narrower walls.

    Hope that helps.
  • Thanks Ralf, that's a great solution. You're the best!

I've got my eyes on the annuals, but after 18 months of unemployment, they're not high in my budget... ;)
