copyrights and military symbols question

I'v been working on making some symbols and I've got some questions on military models, images and copyright.

I was going to make some 3d models or purchase them, but I'm seeing all kinds of problems if I made a symbol set, even if I amke the models my self.
The lattest thing on the bandwagon when I ran into was this which is making me not want to make any modern 3d models and CC3 symbols from them due to potential legal problems.

So any advice is appreciated as I'm not sure if I even ought to make some modern military models and symbols due to potential legal reasons.
