CA 09 Modern City Map Question

All,

I'm sure this is probably "operator headspace and timing", but can someone please help me figure out how to downsize the "Road, Highway" width in CA 09 (2007 Annual).

The only thing that i have been able to do is make it look worse and it didnt change the overall width of the item in the least. The interesting thing is, whether i am working on 300 x 200 map or a 1000x 800 base, the width of the road segment does not seem to change. No matter what i try, it is just too large (width wise) for the maps that I am making. I've tried to adjust width in the advanced options/ custom drawing tools, but that didnt seem to help. I'm clearly missing a vital step.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you and have a great day.

Actually was able to figure out the answer to my own question, for anyone that might need to deal with this in the future. Here are a couple of screenshots to show the sub menus that need to be adjusted.

This first view is the "Outline" button to the right of screen on the custom drawing tools menu.

You must change the width of the border, so it doesnt overwhelm the other part once you downsize it. In this case, i downsized my border to 3.0

Next, you need to click on the "properties" button.

You need to open up the "Extra Entity" screen, then drill down into the "Properties" and select the width of the interior color. Since these appear overlapping, the outlining should obviously be just a bit larger than the interior color so you can see the outline. In this case, i chose 2.0 as the interior color, since i had 3.0 as the outline.

Hopefully this helps anyone else who might have had the same question/ problem.

    Have a great weekend!

One other important note. The black "background" shows up on the "highways background" sheet, and the yellow "foreground" shows up on the "Roads" sheet.

Please make sure that the "highway background" sheet is towards the top of the list, so that it doesn't cover up the yellow which is on the "Roads" sheet.

Took me a few minutes to figure out what layer what was on, so i thought i would save someone else the hassle of figuring it out.

    Cheers!

Good work in figuring this out! Multiple sheet drawing tools can be a complicated to understand and edit.

If you want to adjust the tool to work on very differently sized maps, you can switch to the "Fraction of Map Border" width setting.

Ralf, thanks very much. I tend to try and figure things out before asking questions, but sometimes i just don't "get it" :-)

I was wondering what that "fraction" button was for. Is the input a percentage reduction of some kind or is it a straight up scale?
