Precision Placement of Symbols

So I admit I am a new Map Maker and really want to learn. I have used the search function to try to find this answer.

Is there a way to PRECISELY place the symbols on the map where I want them to go rather than where the program wants.? It seems that the placement is random in the general vicinity of the crosshairs. Is there a way to narrow the point the symbol is placed?

I found the way to make the symbols larger and smaller so that hurdle is overcome.

Thanks in advance for the answers (if they are there.)

  • Bottom right corner is a button that says "SNAPS". Click on that to turn it off and it will let you place symbols anywhere you want. Snaps is a very handy tool that lets you 'lock' entities to a certain distance intervals.

Used with the "Grids" tool, you can specify what those intervals are.

I knew it had to be simple. You da Man!
  • And if you want exact precision, when you've selected the symbol, you can type in the exact coordinate where you want the origin of that symbol to go. If you want it at 12.567,100.001 you can do that. Just type in the number (after selecting the symbol) and hit return -- you'll see the coordinate appearing in the command line as you type.
