Island city?
Hi all,
I want to make a Venetian type city. That is, a metropolis (from a medieval standpoint) that is located across a series of islands.
I start my map by going to File>>New. When the wizard appears I select Cities and Decide Settings Myself.
On the next screen, I select 'CD3 Bitmap A' (I'm not really sure if this is what I should pick...not sure what the difference is between this and Bitmap B or Vector Shaded).
After picking a size, I then select CD3_WaterA for the background.
Now, how do I go about drawing the islands? The only drawing tools available are polygon tools, and they look pretty poor when I put them on the map. I guess what I'm saying is I really don't know how to start this map. The examples I've seen all show how to add water to a city map (sea, river, etc.), but not how to add islands into a water background. Unless I missed one (which is completely believable).
If anyone could help me out, or point me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful!
Thanks,
Dave

Set draw method to fractal, and under the options, put a high value for depth and increase strength a notch.
Set up the tool with a sensible fill style (one of the grass ones perhaps), and a black (dark blue) outline as a separate entity.
