Sand on the beach

I'm trying to come up with a zoomed in coastline area map. I'm trying to create a beach. I've been messing around with glows and have had limited success. This map will be used as an encounter map for D&D. Any ideas on how I can spruce up the coast line?

    You may want to make more beach. Have the sand go a little further inland. You may also want to make multiple sheets of the sand and have different shades of color for the sand as it gets further inland. That will probably spruce up the the coast line a bit. You may also want to have the actual coast line fade a little bit more into the water
