Probably silly question about map backgrounds...

I started a city using the City Designer 3 templates and picked a background that, as it turns out, is too dark for my purposes. How do I change it? I've tried to select it, even by freezing all layers but BACKGROUND, but I can't seem to select it. When I try, I hit the Choose Layer command and nothing will select. I suspect I'm being obtuse.

Are you sure nothing selects? It is often very difficult to see that a square entity using bitmap fill is selected. Make sure to check your command line for the number of entities selected.

Anyway, the simplest way of doing this is:
    - Open the LAYERS dialog (I know you know this since you talked about freezing the layer, but for anyone else with problems that might be reading this, this is the LAYERS dialog, not the SHEET dialog)
    - Place a checkmark in the first box for BACKGROUND to make it current
    - Click HIDE ALL, then ok.
    - Now you only see the background layer (and you can also verify that the entity you wanted to change is indeed on this layer (if it wasn't, it would be hidden now)
    - Click your desired tool (Change properties probably)
    - Click on the edge of the background entity. Now, with everything else hidden, it should be easy to select.
    - Verify that the command line reads "1 picked", then hit D for "Do it".
  • Thanks. After fooling around for a bit, I did manage to grab the correct entity.
