Problem with installing CC3 update 9

I have downloaded the update and when I try to install it, I keep receiving this error message
"Cannot start setup- The setup file may be corrupted, or you may have the wrong password.
If you downloaded this file, please download a fresh copy. If the file is password protected, check your password and try again."

Well, I have re-downloaded it twice and still keep getting this message. this is the first time I have had this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

OK came back an re-downloaded and everything has worked fine. Very strange.

Could have been an Internet or server hiccup during download.

I had an error when I ran this update, and was about to give up and restart. The error message was closed down and the update seemed to have then taken properly. Went straight in and it was sitting at 3.41.

The included Microsoft update sometimes gives an error message when it is already installed. This does not affect the install of the update.

OK I was having problems with symbol catalogs, so I uninstalled all CC3, DD3 and CD3 from my computer (win 7 x64). I have reinstalled CC3 twice (once into Program Files, once into Program Files (x86)) - in both cases, once it has installed, the shortcuts to drawings I have on my desktop do not start up CC3. Also, when I hen try to change the application to load he images, CC3 is not listed as an available app - when I Broswe to find the program I find fcw32 (I assume this being the correct app) and select it, it never appears as an available app. The app is installed because I can start the app from the Start Menu and loade the same image no problem.

Arrgghh!

The program to open FCW files is usually listed as "FastCAD" in the Windows list. Can you locate that?

Don't put it in Program Files, it should be in C:\Profantasy\CC3\ due to issues with Win 7.

Hmmm... It is probably in 'c:\Program Data', a hidden folder.

Yes, fcw32.exe is indeed the correct executable for CC3. What happens after you have manually set up the file association once? Even if the CC3 installer somehow failed to set up the association, there should be a checkbox to have windows remember your choice when you browsed to the program, so that you don't have to do it again.

I couldn't set up the association because it wasn't listed as available - I could browse to CC3 and select it but it would never turn up in the dialog for me to set the association.

Anyway, a moot point - JimP reminded me where it should ought to be installed for Win 7 (I knew that all the time! *blush*) - thanks Jim, now my assocs are setup fine!

I don't see this mentioned, so I guess it won't hurt to ask:
Did you install everything by right-clicking on the exe installer, then choosing Run as Administrator?
Also, make sure the exe installer is not setup to run in compatibility mode.
