More Planet DEMS pleeeassseeee? (Moon, Venus, ecetera?)

Hi team - Just a passing thought here, but does ANYBODY know where I can snag and bag some binary terrain data (bin / hdr) of the Moon, Venus, or whatever - anything other than Earth Or Mars? If I can bogart some choice data (and hopefully interpret them for F.T. Pro to make binary worlds) - then I would gladly pass those on. Thanks kids...

  • University does not start for another couple of weeks for me but I can check with the Planetary Sciences department where you can get some open source data.

Have you looked a the USGS Map-a-Planet site? I haven't checked it for any convertible binary data, but they do have stuff on Venus, Mercury, etc.

Actually Highland_Piper, since I consider Terraformer to be more or less a community project - then yes, I would DEFINETLY appreciate those efforts, and I would credit you sir.
Ralf, I have been to the USGS site frequently, but only to research tectonics and volcanism, and I have sorely neglected to thoroughly look into the "Map - A - Planet" section - so that's a must. Since I am only somewhat well versed at editing .lgt files - and haven't really had a crack at interpreting terrain data, I may need some help in that department - but if the initial DEM / Height / .hdr files are easy enough to match up to FT PRO file standards - it shouldn't be insurmountable. Thank you gentlemen.
  • I'm only a second year geologist student but if there is anything you need don't hesitate to ask. I actually used CC3 twice last year for some module assignments to the jealousy of the rest of my classmates who used colour pencils.
  • Thank you Piper. - Actually you CAN use these applications rather nicely for things other than D&D type stuff. I'm thinking about making some .png icons for CC3 maybe a little later on? I've been wanting to flex my straight pen and ink drawing skills, lol.
