Importing from FTPro then changing style

I'm looking at doing a series of maps starting with FTPro to define the world and then work down to a smaller scale for the individual maps.

The imagery in FTPro looks fine but I'd like to have some final maps which use one or more of the Annual styles. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

At the moment my thinking is that I will have to make the world map in FTPro, import it into CC3, use that as a background and then remap everything in the style I want. Is there an easier way than this?

Also, is there an easy way to change from one style to another, e.g. using Landform (Issue 44) for one version of a map and then Shaded Relief for another?

Thanks for any advice

  • The way I do things is by importing the FTPro map into CC3 and then separating each of the FTPro layers into sheets. From there I then change the individual sheets to match the style I want. I've never attempted to convert to an Annual style, but it may be possible by importing the FTPro map into an Annual template and then distributing the layers onto sheets according to the template's setup.
  • Most of my FTP maps are exported as a bmp, and I import the bmp into CC3. Then I use the bmp as a guide and draw a map over it. The bmp is on its own layer so I can delete it later. That is how I did the hundreds of 5mm hexagon maps i made back in the 1980s.
