saving a partial map

How do I save/export to jpeg/gif only part of a map? say one continent of a world map or the like?

    To export only part of the map as an image, you can use the "rectangular selection" file type in the "save as" dialog box.

    Otherwise, you will need to save the map to a new file, and trim away the parts you don't need from this copy.
