Traveller Sector and Subsector Maps with Cosmographer Pro

When I try to use the starport, navy and scout symbols, they are sideways on the right side, instead of on top of their hexes. Worse, the navy and scout symbols overwrite each other. Is this a bug in my software, or is there a way around the problem. Please note that I am a newbie to the system. Any info thanx.

  • Hmm. Is Snap on ? The button is on the lower right of CC3. If it is on, turn it off, and see if you can then place symbols easier.

I believe it is intended to work this way. If you have only one base, it should go to the top left, with additional bases being listed below that. However, CC3 symbols cannot automatically know if you have already placed a symbol there, so to account for that, you'll find a set of symbols called "Offset xxx". When you need to place the second base, just use the offset symbol instead of the regular one. This will place the symbol correctly below the other symbol.
If you get them on the right side as you say, instead of the left, then check your mirroring settings. Right click with a symbol selected, and make sure the scale for X and Y reads 1.0 and not -1.0

Actually, Snap needs to be on for traveller sector maps, or you will have a hard time getting all the systems to look properly if you place the symbols freely.
  • Oh, I was referring to the navy and scout symbols placing on top of each other.

  • JimP, if you're still struggling with this one (hopefully not), I'd use rotate command with rotation point at hex center (use the snap to get that) and then type in the amount you wish to rotate. Unfortunately this will tilt the symbol, so you'll have do a second rotation with center at the symbol (without snap this time) and type in the amount with a minus-sign in front of it.
  • craigschainholz is the poster with the problem. I haven't made any of these souct boats yet.

I have 2 worlds I made using the Traveller hexagon map templates.
