Extraneous Lines

Occasionally, I get extraneous lines shooting off an object at certain zooms but at different zooms they go away. Also, they are persistent. If they show up at one zoom level, I can change the zoom to make them go away, but when I return to the original zoom level they return in the exact same position. Attached is an example of extra lines coming off of a road. I've listed out the nodes and there isn't one flying off that would account for this. Any idea how to make them go away, or some setting that could be creating them?

I've also included a zoom of the same area where the lines have vanished.

That's an ongoing display problem with dashed line styles and it's rooted in the FastCAD engine, so we can't do anything directly about it. Basically it can happen (but not always does) when two nodes on the path are closer together than the pattern length of the line style.

As a workaround, move the nodes close to the extraneous lines' origin around a bit, or delete them. The node edit tools are in the bottom block of the left-hand toolbars.

    Hope that helps.
  • That helps tremendously! If moving nodes around and paying attention to their placement works, I can certainly do that. :)

Node distance versus pattern length never would have occurred to me.
