selecting entities by type?

I'm trying to create an index on a city map with CD3 but am having an issue selecting all the text to create the index while still keeping the grid visible in order to create the index properly.

Is there a way to select all my text labels without risking selecting the grid as well? I've got 126 labels to select and the grid keeps getting in the way.

Oh, nevermind. I figured it out. I hid the layer that had the grid, then selected all the text labels. I then unhid the grid and created the index.

You mention the best solution to your problem in the thread title. CC3's selection options can be very powerful:

    - Start the Create Index command
    - right-click, select by "Entity type"
    - check the "2d Text" box.
    - Click ok, all text will now be selected.

Depending on what you want to index you can now combine the selection with the AND or NOT functions to exclude certain text entities.

    Hope that helps.
