DD3 Vegitation and SS2 Questions

When using DD3 is there some sort of way to add vegitation symbol catalog to the symbols to the buttons or to have a vegitation button?
I saw an old post that delt with this, but the link to the file to fix it doesn't work and I also didn't see this fix given in my copy of the September 2008 Annual.
The old post is at this link:

Also, when using SS2 I can use the symbol button to access just the Bitmap B symbol catalogs. Is there anyway to fix this so I can access the othe SS2 catalogs?

Open a blank map template.
Put the symbols you want to use, from any catalog, into that map.
Go up to the Symbols menu at the top of CC3.
Click on Symbol Manager.
Select all of the symbols.
Click on 'Save as a catlog'.
Click okay.
Exit CC3.
Next time you make a map, load that catalog.
I have several of these as some viallges on my overland maps I want the same symbols.
Just don't share your catalog with others. Ralf ? Am I correct in that ?
To use he other symbols from SS2, you need to toggle through the different styles. Just hit the Symbol Style Toggle button until the style you want appears, then clickt the catalog button you need.
Jim, I think Jay wasn't looking to create his own catalog, but your instructions for that are correct.
Thanks Jim. I wasn't trying to create ny on catalog, but I copied all of the information you gave as it will be helpfull for when I do.
Here's how to add a new catalog entry to any style:
- Load a map in the style you want, or hit the Symbol Style Toggle button until you have the style you want.
- Click the catalog button where you want to add your own entry.
- If the catalog selection dialog doesn't show up yet, choose Symbols > Symbol Settings from the menu
- Click the "Advanced button" in the dialog
- Click New to add a new catalog setting. Note that the name you give it needs to match the filters given on the top right. Otherwise it won't show up when you click the button. It's usually easiest just to append something to one of the existing setting names.
- "Browse" to the catalog you want to load with the setting. With "Properties" you can add some pre-sets, e.g. always switch to the layer "VEGETATION" and color green when loading the setting.
- "Save" your new catalog setting.
- Click "ok". The new setting should now appear as an option when you click the respective catalog button.
Hope that helps.
