System Very Slow

Since I loaded upgrade 8 I have noticed that the sytem is very slow when I am working on the map. I am currently drawing a map of Spain. Over the past few days I have noticed that each time I do anything on the map, whether add detai or simply move around the map, it seems very slow. Even just zooming in there is a delay. When I click on an instruction the timer appears and there is a delay before the zoom operates.

I am not sure whether this is my CC3 system or my computer. But I only notice this delay when working on CC3.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Do you have effects turned on ?

That can casue a big slow down.

Redraws can also get slow when you got lots of entities (especially with bitmap fills) in your map. Turning effects off when working (as JimP says) is the first thing to do. You can also open the Display Speed Settings (hourglass button on the left) and lower the bitmap quality while you are working with the map.

How large is your map file by the way? If you want, you can send me the map (ralf@profantasy.com) and I'll have a look what's causing the delays.

How do I turn the effects off?

Sorry guys, I should have checked the manual before I asked. I have switched the effects off and it seems to be working fine.
