Where has the glow gone

I have copied the tutorial and added three glow to my island. When I finished I did save and closed CC3 down. When I opened it again my island did not show any of the “glows”. I select Sheets and Effects they are not shown. But when I click on Land and tick Active Sheet Effects they appear in the box. When I click OK they are shown on my map. When I close the map I click yes on Save Changes.

When I open the map again they are gone.

How do I make the map with the “glows” replace the one without?

Effects are not turned on by default when you load a map. This is intentional behavior, because effects are resource-intensive, so normally, you wish to have the effects off when you work with it.

All you need to do is to turn on the effects after loading, which is done using any one of the following ways:
    1) Type EFFECTSON into the CC3 command line (and hit enter)
    2) Type EFFECTSTOG into the CC3 command line.
    3) Enter the "Sheets and Effects" dialog box, check the "Activate Sheets Effects" option, and click ok.

You can also force your map to open with effects on by using one of the following options.
    1) Tools -> Options -> Effects on load setting. This affects all maps
    2) File -> Drawing Properties -> Map Notes. Edit the OnOpenMacro and add EFFECTSON on a seperate line. This will force effects on each time you open this map.

    Hi Monsen

Thanks for your reply. I tried the second option Fifle-Drawing Properties-MapNotes-Edit the OnOpenMacro and add EFFECTSON on a seperate line, but it did not work. I then tried the other option Tools-Options-Effects on load setting and that did work.

I would prefer to have it work on the first option, so that it was only this one map which always opened with the effects on, but I can live with the having all maps open with the effects on.

    Thanks for your help

Just click the "Display Speed Settings" button on the left toolbar and enable "Effects are on when loaded". Save the map. It will now always open with effects on. This is map specific setting too, not affecting other maps.
