Fractal Terrains..River exclusion mask

There is an option to "enable river exclusion mask" , does anyone know what this does? I've tried enabling it , while selecting areas I don't want rivers and haven't notice any effect.

    When you enable the river exclusion mask, it provides an image overlay layer called "RiverExclusionMask". Drawing into this mask will signal which areas of the world will not allow rivers.
