Floorplans for ships/boats

Hello,
I am looking to build floor plans for a sailing ship and river barge to go with a series of encounters I am writing up and I was curious if anyone has had success in this area? I've tried to "draw" the bow of the ship, but it never looks right to me and I was wondering if there was a trick to it?

I've done some sailing ship deckplans and I agree there are subtleties that make a big difference. My suggestion is to find an online image of a deck and trace over it.

This is probably stating the obvious, but just draw a path down one side, then copy it & mirror it over the centerline.

I've found that the small curves the whole way down the side make the difference between a blocky-looking ship and one that looks realistic.

And after I trace the ship, I scan the image and upload it to CC#?

Not exactly. You would do the actual tracing inside CC3. Just insert the image inside CC3, then use the drawing tools in CC3 to trace the outline. Once done, you remove the image again, and are left with your traced outline.

Also, if you haven't done so already, a look at the March '09 annual may be helpfull (Not for the tracing, but for general ship drawing)

Can you buy just the March '09 entry, or do you have to buy the whole year as a package?
