Combining\Joining Landmasses

I've two seperate land masses that are each outlined. I'd like to join them into big land mass. I've tried using different commands such as combine, multipoly or connect but I'm not having any luck. I've tried to do a search within the forum and haven't found an answer. I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of those "Doh!" moments once it's explained, but any ideas on how to join\combine the landmasses made with the drawing tools?

The easiest way of expanding a landmass is to use the same draw tool and use "edit" on the first one, instead of drawing two land masses and combine them. However, if you need to combine two polygons, this is a method that works (I don't know if it is the simplest, I rarely do this):

    1. Delete the outline on the entities. You'll need to add a new one afterwards
    2. Use break on the entities to remove any part of each land mass that is NOT going to be part of the new coastline. This ill reduce your landmasses to simple lines for now.
    3. Use "Combine path" on the lines from the two landmasses to merge them into one line.
    4. Then use "Path to Poly" to make a new poly from the now single line
    5. Finally use "outline in black" to add a new outline to your combined polygon.
