Building a world from scratch

This is a world of my own creation.
I will start with detailed maps, but there are also writeups . So far I have full writeups of one kingdom, and a couple of cities and towns.

This is the world, generated in Fractal terrains. It is known as Plantera. I am avoiding worrying about map projections, and distortions. I am simply using this as my map, and ignoring those issues.
Fractal Terrains has several map projections available, and it does a fair job of describing the distortions in each projection.
This is the continent I am focusing on. It is called Grarera. The rivers were created in Fractal Terrains, but the courses didn't quite flow right, so I redrew each one. I am still working on forests , lakes and such in areas that I have not focused on yet.
Here is Eshana. it has been settled for over 2000 years, but was torn apart 200 years ago. The high-res file has an export to a poster sixed map at 300 dpi.
I just want you to know that there is a Video Game boss called Plantera in the game Terraria. About 60 million copies sold.
By all means call it whatever you want.
I really like it.
For Garrera redone.
Maybe make a second hex grid that is like ten times the scale. That small hex grid really lags out CC3+
That way you can switch between the two grids depending on how zoomed in you are. Just put them on different sheets.
Looks like you put a lot of work in, specially all the text, good job.
I was completely unaware. that you.
I hope to develop this into something I can sell small scale, so that is a very important safety tip.
Love the write up of Eshana. Glad you had permission from Don Anderson to call Plantera what you like. đ
I am actually renaming the world. I am calling it Asthalia. No point in stepping on toes, or limiting options.
Nice work so far.
I was looking at your .fcw files, and I noticed that some of the colors around your mountain regions were a very bright pink. I am suspecting this is not intentional and is due to you having an non-default palette installed. If this is the case, I recommend attaching the palette to the drawing so it follows the file instead of having it in your CC3+ data directory as a separate file affecting all maps. You can attach the palette from the Drawing Properties dialog.
Apparently the import from Fractal terrains used a custom palette. I missed that.
Thank you.
Here it is with the custom palette attached. Along with the poster sized map.
All of the feedback is very much appreciated.
This is my first large scale project and I have made some rookie mistakes. I prefer having them called out as I cannot fix what I don't know is broken.
I am also glad that the work is appreciated.
For what its worth, Asthalia took a few days in Fractal Terrains, mostly experimenting with exports.
Garera was probably a week of actual work, spread or a month or so.
The Eshana map was a few days, and with the help of the Anual, 129, I believe , Large Exports, the poster size was created in an hour of trial and error test printing till I was sat5isfided all of the details were in place and nothing pixilated and a far higher zoom than a poster print would show
Again. All feedback is welcome.
Thank you.
To date the final map I have completed, or almost compiled is Lawah. A town in the Mysty Fern Woods. Finally it also includes a writeup.
Thanks for sharing your work. Campaign Cartographer has a long learning curve. If you watch the weekly video segments you will find quite often users state "I never knew that." Heck, I didn't know the program had a calculation function you could use when resizing a map. So virtually anyone who uses this program is always learning. (I have refered to it as like a college course LOL)
So just have fun, use every set back to make the next project better.
This latest map I like due to the sprawl of it. Quite often people make everything tight together.
I have put some effort into studing how a medieval town should be structured. Many businesses and professions are noisy, smelly or require lots of room.
So I placed those away from the town proper.
I also used the random city generator. To quickly get the basic shape, and then rearranged to add additional roads as the river. It is good up to 600 buildings or so, but can't go higher.
