The Other DM Lucy Introduction
I am JimP's little sister. I don't have his knowledge yet but I certainly have the will to give it the best shot I am capable of.
I currently hold a master's degree in counseling and use geek therapy as a way to help my clients deal with life. I am the only certified therapeutic game master in my area. So I am putting my own skills to use and entering the world of mapping. I have gamed since the introduction of DnD in the 1970's.
I have mapped my own world on paper but now I want to extend that to digital maps.
Jim taught me how to game. At our knees were my sons who learned colors, numbers, math and strategies along with physics while "playing". They rolled dice, added them up. Came up with ideas. There are five of the boys while I have one beautiful stepson he does not game with TTRPGs but video only.
Thank you everyone fo being so welcoming!

Fantastic!
Welcome to the forum, DM Lucy.
If you have any problems or can't work out how to get something 'just so', you only have to make a thread and ask.
Lou, I recommend Jow Sweeney's YouTube videso, as well as the tutorials that are part of the CC3+ package.
Welcome to the forums.
As Sue says, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to make a thread and ask.
If you want to look at some of Jim's actual map files, and not just the rendered images, the community atlas contains the .fcw (cc3+ files) for all the maps he submitted there. It is also a great inspiration in general.
Indeed, you are most welcome here!
So nice to have someone else who remembers those early D&D days too - though I was a little late to the party (winter of '76-'77; UK, however, so it wasn't easy to get hold of back then). Then again, no one in my wargaming circle even knew what "role-playing games" were, let alone had heard of D&D, at the time. So I became the default DM, and we just made it up as we went along. I rather suspect I'm still doing that...
Welcome <3
Master @Quenten mentioned Mr. Joe's videos, here is the link to the first one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq5-T12055Y
These are the oldest videos on how to use the program, are very complete and are a solid foundation in using the program..
After these, on Remmy's channel https://www.youtube.com/@RemyMonsen or even on the official Pro Fantasy channel https://www.youtube.com/@ProfantasySoftware there are many more explanatory videos.
As for the rest and any other questions, we are here on the forum.
Salut!
Welcome, DM Lucy! Jim was such a kind mentor to myself and others here, and I’m sure we would all be happy to help share back that mentorship. I’m so glad you decided to take up the mantle. I was first introduced to D&D in 1979, but I’ve only been mapping with Campaign Cartographer for about a year.
Welcome DM Lucy! I'm sorry it's under sad circumstances. But good on you for taking up after Jim. I got into AD&D in the mid-80s. But, shortly thereafter, life and family got in the way. I grabbed CC3+ on humble bundle about 2 years ago. I have made a couple maps for practice but nothing worthy of submitting. I have been on the forums and the people here are amazing! They are the most helpful people in a forum from all the different forums I have been in and out the last 20ish years.
Welcome! I am so glad to see that Jim shared his love of gaming with you all and that you are going to try your hand at mapping out your own world in his honor. This is very Jim of you :) I cannot wait to see what you start creating!
You are awesome!
I love when people embrace their geek!
