HEEEELP!

I recently just bought CC3, DD3 and CD3 and still trying to figure things out. My question is, when I am in the City Designer mode trying to build up a small town, I want to have a river running through it along with docks connected to a warehouse. (the river is a trade route) Not only can I not find a tile for docks, I cannot figure out how to get the river included. When I click on the overland map icon and click on the river icon, it tells me that nothing has been selected. I read the manuals, downloaded the Tome of Ultimate Mapping and STILL can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • IIRC, you don't use those overland map commands in a city map.Instead go to "All drawing tools" and there you should fine some river drawing tools. Might have select what style set you are working on.

Docks should be there in bitmap B folder, and in Walls symbol catalog..
  • Thanks for the advice, found the rivers and so far that is working, but I still can't find the docks. Now I am having another issue, I cannot print. I worked up one map and went to print but the file was too big and froze up my computer. Then I made a smaller, one page map, and when I previewed it everything looked fine, but when I printed it was blank. I printed it to both a regular printer and to a PDF creator and both final products were blank. What the hell am I doing wrong?
  • One more thing:

I am using the CD program to try and build an outdoor encounter that happens on the docks next to a warehouse. I cannot for the life of me get the wood plank docks without making it a "floor plan" layer which doesn't show up in the final product, so I end up having all the crates looking like they are on the grass and not the dock. I feel like an idiot, so any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks again

Printing: A large map may cause CC3 to stop responding for a while during the processing. This is normal, since it does not allocate any resources to the UI during this time.
Also, if the drawing turns up blank, check which sheets you are printing. Under "View to print" in the print dialog, there is a sheet selector. Make sure it is set to "All visible sheets as one page".

    The docks:
Make sure you place everything on appropriate sheets. CC3 will place entities above/below other entities depending on what sheet they are on. If you have problems placing your docks, create a new sheet that is above your water & background sheets, and place the dock there. Then, if necessarily, create yet another sheet above the dock sheet, where you can place the boxes.
Note that the sheet dialog lists sheets in the order they are draw. This means the topmost sheet in the list is drawn first, and therefor end up on the bottom of the drawing, below everything else. So when you want to create a sheet that draws on top of another sheet, it must be placed below that sheet in the list.
  • There is a Dock symbol in bitmap , otherwise you can select a nice wooden fill and just draw it out yourself :)
