Marine Dungeons question - The Abyss

I’m working on a map using the Marine Dungeons style. I noticed a drawing tool called Abyss, and while I wasn’t planning on creating an abyss in my map…I might now that I have the option. Or if not this one, maybe the next.
When I used the drawing tool to see what it would do, it drew a black polygon and created a new ABYSS sheet. That new sheet is at the end without an sheet effects.
Can anyone advise what sheet effects were intended, and what where should I move the sheet? I can make some guesses but if something was planned, I would like to try it out.

It's a drawing tool that Ralf made to go with a sheet he created in the map called "CA175 Kraken Deeps".
It's a while back now, but I think it had something to do with the steps down in that map.
Ahhh, ok. That FCW doesn't have a sheet called ABYSS but there is one called SHADING. That's a useful trick for stairs (or ramps) descending.
