Someone on FB was interested in the fact that the drain connecting symbol could wind back on itself. Not sure how practical that is, but I added a second drain sheet and put a glow on it to cast a shadow on the drain below.
I've also made a connecting wall with a matching floor fill, and added in a few symbols.
Way behind on this bu if you added some Lava and Blood colors that could be useful for Niche maps. Could also add Blackish water with floaters even ;-) .
Aw shucks, sue, we need to horrify the adventurers. Nothing worse than having to swim through solid faecal matter floating on the surface. Be disgusting. 😂 It's Christmas season - think of Mr Hanky (a Southpark reference - google it)
Rats! Every sewer has rats (unless gelatinous cubes sweep through them). Those of us with Creepy Crypts can use the rats from that, but you may want to consider adding those symbols for customers who don’t also have that one.
A common urban legend is homeless people who live in the sewers. While the people themselves should be omitted, maybe a ragged campsite situated in an alcove off the main sewer line? (Alcoves with ladders to the surface would make sense too.)
I think those alcoves with ladders are called Inspection Chambers. It should be possible to draw them using the connecting symbols, but I will make sure there are ladders. Wood is no good down a sewer, so they'd best be metal I guess.
What kind of thing would constitute a campsite? Beds and various possessions? Fires down sewers are a definite no-no.
Fires might be stupid but that wouldn't stop some people from building one if they were cold or wanted to cook something. I'm not sure what a "cold camp" would look like but a permanent site would be set up to deal with these issues.
Fires might not actually be that stupid. The sewers usually didn't just transport human waste, especially for cities with the larger walkable sewers, they also served to transport water from rain out of the city, as well as all kind of wastewater from businesses and the like. Sewers aren't necessarily full of explosive gas everywhere, and drains in the street allow for the smoke to escape as well.
Prior to the invention of sewage treatment plants, sewers were, in fact, also storm drains, pretty much always. The only way they had to deal with sewage (which really doesn't "flow" on its own all that well, if you know what I mean) was to dilute it with water, and lots of it (hence, the main sewer line in Rome also taking all excess waters from the aqueducts).
And (assuming they were properly designed), having enough ventilation to make explosions a non-issue, they had to have enough ventilation that a fire wouldn't be an issue. Places that didn't design (and build) them that way wouldn't have sewers for long, because fire was quite common in the medieval world.

People living underground often don't want to be found and would try to make their fires as smokeless as possible. Glowing or dead coals might be more common than flames. (Badly ventilated fires might have a dead body nearby.)
That is, perhaps, the best known example, because they have large storm drains that are generally unused (because Las Vegas doesn't (historically - it's increasing over time) get rain often, but when it does, little of it soaks into the ground, so they need large storm drains for the runoff.
It makes the news, from time to time, because when it does rain, at least a few of the people living there end up drowning as a result.
I like the rust. It would be nice to have like a leaky one. Also, if you could, include gas/steam symbol so I don't have to pillage one from other style:P
Steampunk styles tend to like to use brass, leather, and gears so if you are looking for another pipe fill, then perhaps some brass pipes with gear shaped valves would work.

This is very cool. (I’m Kevin over on FB.) I’m coming up with all sorts of scenarios involving sewers as part of a heist campaign.
Excellent!
Thank you. I will look forward to seeing your maps :)
Sue, this is awesome! Exactly what I was hoping for. Those spider webs are perfect. 🕷️
Thank you, Shessar :D

Thanks for the suggestion, Frosty. I'll see what I have time to do, where this is already pretty much a niche of it's own.
Will there be solid matter to display in the sewers . PLEASE.
No idea :)

Or white blind, due to lack of light, alligators.
I made an "Effluent Scum" fill you can use in various different scenarios?
LOVE IT - I am going to use this as my bathroom wallpaper. 👹

Yes. Good point. I might have time to do new ones, but we'll see what happens before March.

Ill have to see what I can do.

Every household had at least one oven or open fire...
Yes. I can see a need for fires.
I saw recently on the news that people do live in the tunnels/water management tunnels under Las Vegas, Nevada.
That is, perhaps, the best known example, because they have large storm drains that are generally unused (because Las Vegas doesn't (historically - it's increasing over time) get rain often, but when it does, little of it soaks into the ground, so they need large storm drains for the runoff.

Thanks for all your comments, everyone. Your thoughts trigger my thoughts, as always.
While I was thinking about all of that, however, I did some rusty old pipes for the set.

I might come back to that leaky pipe idea when I've fleshed out the rest of the set, Julian.
I hadn't really thought of this as a steampunk style as such. We'll see...
The tentacles are back, but hopefully looking a bit more organic than the free set.
