Can I the shadows deeper than the global sun value?

I've made a map that uses a global sun shadow transparency value of 25%, so that you can still dimly see the unlit areas.
However, there is one creepy part of the map where it looks really good to have the transparency here at 0%, so that the shadows are deeper and scarier.
How can I set about achieving this?
(Should I use a blend mode?
Or make the global shadow transparency 0% and somehow lighten the other areas?
I suppose I could just manually add black polygons over the top in the deepest shadows, but this might be a bit clumsy.)
Thanks for any suggestions!

I think the black polygons with an Edge Fade Inner (or blur), followed by a blend mode of either overlay or multiply should be fine. It would be more controllable than other options because you can tweak the opacity on a sheet effect.
Use a black polygon.
Cheers, thanks! My map is all starting to come together now!
