The Tome of Ultimate Mapping

Hi,

I understand that The Tome of Ultimate Mapping is mainly written for CC2.

If I buy CC3, will this book still be helpful for me? I'm not a mapping expert of any sort, I'm a total newbie whit these kinds of maps. Does it contain information not found in the tutorial videos and other available online documentation?

Yes, as it covers many things that are in both CC2 and CC3.

I'd have to say yes and no. There's really good stuff in the Tome, but with the extended CC3 documentation PDF, the tutorial videos, and the Annuals, the Tome is becoming less and less relevant and the same info replaced elsewhere. Personally, I'd recommend putting the money towards the Annuals now (if you don't already have them) because many of the styles, tips and tricks that were in the Tome are starting to appear in the monthly annuals, but geared towards CC3.

Don't get me wrong though - it's still an awesome book and a great reference, it's just that a lot of it is starting to show up in newer products like the Annuals.

Thanks for the insights. I ordered the book, but not the annuals. I'm sure the annuals will be handy as well, but that'll have to be a future order...
