Issue with connecting corridors to wall
Hi,
I have a strange behaviour.
I did some rooms and connected them by corridors, breaking the wall and it worked fine
Now, I back on my map and want to add some corridors between existing rooms, and the "B" parameter no longer works. The corridor doesn't break the walls.
When I make some new rooms and try to connect corridors with B param, it works... how is it possible?
When I make a new room and try to connect to an old room, it fails, I see that it connect to the new room wall, but impossible to connect to the old room wall, the corridor failed to be built 😖
thanks a lot for your help

Hide the FLOORS sheet so you are only working with the walls and use List from the Info menu to find out what layer the walls are on. If they aren't on the WALLS layer (as well as the WALLS sheet) they won't behave like walls when things like corridor tools are used.
If that isn't the problem, maybe if you upload your FCW file here we can have a look at it and see what the problem might be.
oh I think I understand, I move all those rooms and walls as well on a specific layer called level 1, level 2 etc.. to hide easily each level on my map. I guess it's not the good way of working.. but I let them on the right sheet ie Wall, floor etc.. that's why I thought it was ok..
What is the best practice between sheets and layers? It's quite confusing because you have floors in sheets but in layers as well, same for wall etc...not sure to have in mind all the consequences of my choices unfortunately..
So as I understand, I have to let walls, floors etc on their own layers if I want to have the right behaviour, right? in that case, how can I do to hide quickly an entire level of my dungeon? Thanks
There is no reason you can't move the walls to a different layer once you have finished all your operations on them that involve corridor tools, or wall cutting symbols, like doors and windows. Does that help?
Ok so if I understand well, I can move on my specific layers rooms and corridors only once I finished to draw them, right? if not I have to back them on their original layers to have the connecting features again, correct?
I just tried to back walls on the layers "walls" and unfortuntately, the corridor didn't break the wall. any idea? thks
Make sure the layers the walls are on, are not frozen.
they are not frozen
I check that both wall are on the right layer "256" / "Walls", but the corridor didn't break them.. I don't know why...
Please post your fcw file and someone will look at it.
ok, please find attached
Thks
Your walls aren't on the walls layer.
They are on your Level - 0 layer.
And when I try to add a corridor, they want to go to the same room, not other rooms.
Only the lower right circular room is on the correct layer and sheet.
Yes I know, but I moved my walls on the right layers, but the corridors work no longer despite walls are on the good layers again. It seems that something is broken if you change the layers, you can't back to the original status
You need to move the floors back to the BACKGROUND (FLOOR 1) layer too. The corridor tool operates on both floors and walls, and expects both to be correct for it to recognize an existing entity in your map as a dungeon room/corridor to work with.
ah ok Monsen, understood! I'll try adn keep you posted, thks
Nice!!! it works!!! I'll finished no all my operations before moving on my layers level -1 etc.. Thks a lot
