Ok, so they're all just stones, and we are looking down on them, but how do they look?
I also adjusted the heather, since it was looking like colour patches rather than actual plants. The upshot of that is that they don't look like quite such a homogenous mass as is natural on a moorland, but I guess I prefer them this way to the way they were.
There seems to be issues with what layers stuff goes on. example ruined towers go on the symbols towers sheet but the mossy versions of the ruins goes on what ever sheet is active. ie if you have say the background sheet selected they go on that sheet. Don't think this is correct. Same thing for fallen trees. Suspect all the mossy and fallen trees are like this.
So I have uninstalled the annual from yesterday and reinstalled the new one today but there still appears to be symbols that still go on the active sheet. These all went to the background sheet which was active.
Yes it is Sue - I have do it twice with the same results. I just removed the annual again but this time I will reboot. I have deleted the download from this morning and re-downloaded it. I'll re-install after the reboot and see what happens. I have also checked and made sure that all the files were removed after the uninstall.
That is what I have been doing but when I noticed that some of the symbols were going to the active sheet I decided to find out which one were doing it and then made the image for Ralf. After second re-install same issue.
It may just be as simple as Ralf updated the symbol catalogue but then the upload failed when he blinked for a moment. We won't know until he gets back to it.
Maybe but the other mossy ruins were fixed from yesterday and the fallen trees were fixed. My fault I should have tested them all and posted an image of the bad symbols yesterday.
Not sure if it's just me, but I am still having some trouble with symbols choosing the wrong sheets still after the latest update. All of the symbols below are choosing to be on the FLOOR sheet. As far as i could tell all the others are choosing the correct sheets. I put in a tech support request - but here is a reference for anyone else who may need to check if they are experiencing the same issue
Yes, sorry. That one was taken out at the last minute since it wasn't being used for anything and the style was already absolutely huge. As I remember it was teetering on the edge of the absolute 500MB limit per issue (preferably they are usually much smaller than that). So I was looking for ways to reduce the size.
In part 2 there are 2 versions of the stone - light and dark. So by losing one you will eventually gain two instead.
The two new textures will be CA192A, so that slot is obsolete.
Ok, this is a benchmark image just to show I'm still working on part 2. My computer is giving me the blue screen of death on a regular basis and I will be reseating the RAM to try and cure it this evening. If I fail and it all goes wrong it will have to go for professional repair. And if that happens no work will be done for maybe a fortnight. I will also not be around on the forum in that same time.
This is the ongoing work on the waterfalls - very obviously not yet finished. The first image shows them without a shadow on the face of the cliff, and the second one with.
Yes, that's because they can go on any of the three. If you pick one of the three grass sheets before you pick the grass drawing tool it will go on that one. The idea was to reduce the number of sheets from 5 to 3, given that there are an awful lot of sheets in the style - so far. There are even more in part 2.
However, I can't say if Ralf intends to change that or not.
If you get a newly created "grass" sheet you can solve the problem the same way Ralf did - move it down to be with the rest of the grass sheets and copy the same effects across.
Yes Sue I understand that but Ralf implied that he had changed that. If the intent is to have the default Grass it should be in the template.
it also seems lately that templates are suffering from sheet bloat. ie a bunch of sheets rarely used. Don’t get me wrong I have maps with lots of sheets that I added as needed.
It would really be nice to have a delete unused sheets command. That also bring up the issue of deleting a sheet and the OnOpenMacro command could be on one of those sheets. I discovered yesterday that when I added it after finding it missing with Remy’s help that I had a temp sheet selected and it appears that was the sheet it was added to as it was missing again after I deleted that sheet.
The problem with deleting sheets you may not need at that point is that a drawing tool may want it later. And if you delete it, the new one automatically created when the tool cannot find the correct sheet will both be at the end of the sheet list, so it won't order correctly, and it will be missing the effects.
Yes but if you use the command once the map is completed your sheets list would be much cleaner. So when you go back to work on it or give it to someone else the unused sheets would not be there.
This used to happen with new sheets you'd created in any map. If you didn't put anything on the sheet, it would be deleted the next time you reopened the map. That was changed in an update a long while back, and while it does solve the problem that if you don't use it immediately, you'll lose it, it does mean most maps now end up with far too many sheets in, because nobody's ever going to remember which sheets haven't been used in a given map. Plus there's always the danger you'll accidentally delete some critical sheet by mistake that has something on you'd forgotten about if you try to do a cleanup manually.
It would be excellent to have the same possibility to remove excess Sheets at the end of a map, just as you can with Layers, currently. Not sure how practical that would be from a programming perspective though.
There's also the complexity that some of the older styles used to have a single, more or less invisible dot on them, to ensure the sheet didn't get removed automatically under the old system (it's an entity). That will likely mean they can't be removed by some kind of automated system (these'll still be around in the earlier issues of the CA, I'm sure). No idea when that may have stopped being done (if indeed it isn't still continued with).
And apologies to Sue for so successfully hijacking her topic...😏

Sue don't take this wrong but rocks from above still just look like rocks.
They're all rocks, Jeff - big rocks, little rocks, tall rocks, thin rocks, fat rocks....😁
There not tall looking down on them.
Ok, so they're all just stones, and we are looking down on them, but how do they look?

Submitted a ticket
Yeah, those symbols were missing the automatic sheet settings. I've fixed this and uploaded a new version of the setup.
Ralf,
So I have uninstalled the annual from yesterday and reinstalled the new one today but there still appears to be symbols that still go on the active sheet. These all went to the background sheet which was active.
Is this a completely new map created since the reinstall?
Yes it is Sue - I have do it twice with the same results. I just removed the annual again but this time I will reboot. I have deleted the download from this morning and re-downloaded it. I'll re-install after the reboot and see what happens. I have also checked and made sure that all the files were removed after the uninstall.
For now, if you pick the relevant SYMBOLS sheet before pasting the symbols should go on the right sheet.
I expect Ralf will look at it again in the not too distant future.
That is what I have been doing but when I noticed that some of the symbols were going to the active sheet I decided to find out which one were doing it and then made the image for Ralf. After second re-install same issue.

Yeah, there were some more symbols in need of updating, as well as the "All" catalog. A new setup is available.
Not sure if it's just me, but I am still having some trouble with symbols choosing the wrong sheets still after the latest update. All of the symbols below are choosing to be on the FLOOR sheet. I think some of those are from Creepy Crypts, which has quite a few different sheets. However, it is strange that they are chosing the FLOORS sheet.
Just saw this:
I have a "CA191 Ston" bitmap texture in my list of textures, but the file seems to be missing:
I've reinstalled the style using yesterday's update file. No change.
I also did a file search and there seem to be no files with this name in the CC3+ folders.
So, should there be a bitmap with this name, or might that be a texture for the upcoming upgrade?
Yes, sorry. That one was taken out at the last minute since it wasn't being used for anything and the style was already absolutely huge. Also all the grass textures do go on the grass sheet just like in the video. none are setup for the additional grass sheets.
Yes, that's because they can go on any of the three. If you pick one of the three grass sheets before you pick the grass drawing tool it will go on that one. Yes please, a remove unused Sheets, as in remove unused layers would be a terrific addition
Would an unused sheet be one with no entities or one with no entities and no effects?
No entities as a new templates sheet has effects on it in most cases.
I agree with Jeff
Yes, ditto what Jeff wrote.
