Keep in mind when you export these that you let the symbols in the back rising above the map border be part of the export, that helps put emphasis on the 3-dimensionality of the map..... (Just fix the screen if it gets in the way....)
I kept having problems visualizing the layout of this map. I'll work on the screen sheet later. I have to get ready for a camping trip and decide which gear I'm taking. Took too much last time.
The screen sheet on this template isn't a rectangle. It is two 'wings' on the sides to trim anything going past the edge. The top, I added a screen piece, but it is originally just 'clip to map border. So I had to move the top line of the green map border as well.
Here is my preliminary map. I named the river on the west side.
A thought, should I remove the mountain to the right of Mt Whitescarp and show it like this ? Of course, the center mountain will be Whitescarp on the previous map.
Jim, looking at Quenten's original map, the major mountains all have baselines of greater length than their heights, whereas on your maps, they're all taller than their baselines, so it looks as if they're not the same things, comparing the maps. Not sure if that's what's throwing you off, but it looks odd to my eye at least.
I was trying to get my two maps to match where they share areas.
I was asked to make them tall and beyond the top of the map. I measured the first one. It is about 12 miles at the base. So I tried to get it that width.
Comments
That is changes to my map... not Quenten's map.
Visualizing was a pain last night. I'll continue to work on it.
Update on my map. Details left to be done.
But what I would like to know is, is the overall look correct ? Or close to correct ?
Thanks.
Larger in my gallery.
I think this one looks better. Larger 3000 pixel in my gallery.

How is this ?
750 pixels, 1000 pixel one in my gallery. The 1000 went off the edges on my browser, for this post.
the fcw, I'll fix any problems. Just follow up.
Since this is Quenten's thread, I don't get notifications of any followups. I do check periodically though.
Any ideas on the scale bar since each increase in distance towards the back of the map each square is smaller ?
I forgot the compass rose, added and uploaded the new map.
edit: I deleted the fcw because I have a problem, I think.
Looks a lot better with the complete mountain in view @JimP .
Thank ya.

That is in the above fcw.
Is Mt Eagleshead the one next to Whitescarp ? Or the one further west ?
I'll get started on this map today.
It's a bit ambiguous. I would make it the mountain next to Whitescarp, and will make it plainer on the map. Sorry.
Here is the revised map, Jim.
No problem. I'll just add the name.

Hmmm... I wasn't very clear.
What I am asking is should I show both dungeon entrances on both maps ?
Your choice, mate. Either seems fine to me.
On the minotaur map the large mountain on the right has been bothering me. So I'll take it off and put Eagleshead there.
Edited for typo.
Here are the jpgs for the two local maps. And the fcw files. Something is wrong, but I don't know how to correct it. My visualization is off.
deleted older fcw files.

Checking one of them tonight, the trees are different at the same distance.
They would work if they were sequoia, but they aren't
I've made progress, but not posting the update yet.
This one is ready. All text is the same size, except for the title.
@Monsen
Corrected on Tuesday morning.
This one is now ready. All text, except the map name, are the same size as the above map.
@Monsen
I'm thinking about doing the two named ruins. I'll have to look over various Annuals and see what will work with an idea or two I have.
@JimP : Isn't the map tiltle of the whitescarp map wrong? The file is called whitescarp, while the title says whiteside.
Well. Gosh. I'll fix it later today. I just got up. Not long after sunrise here.
Fixed it. New jpg and fcw uploaded above.
Thanks Jim. These have been linked into the atlas now.
You're welcome.
