Looking at the symbol and terrain use here, I think these could be used to create an illusory city too, or a literal ghost town, perhaps with some additional colour overlay effects, and perhaps some transparency about the symbols (less sure about the latter point, however). Or indeed a city of glass.
I downloaded the monthly snow content and I have all the symbols, but the bitmap terrain texture for the snowy lands just shows up as grey? Any suggestions?
This will happen if the fill isn't defined in the map, such as if you are using an existing map made before this fill was added, in which case you must import the fill into the map first. See this FAQ entry:

I didn't get the snowy buildings, just the snowy trees
I just checked mine... and I believe the buildings are just the varicolor version of the base buildings.

master quenten, i change buildings to white color.
if you say about those ones, natural features then select seaflats cracked and change the color to anyone you want.
I was talking about the background land texture that's white with the grass, under your trees?
terrain default, snowy lands
Yep. It just shows up as grey for me. There's no texture. I have downloaded the recent version 3.97 of cc3+ too.
Do I have a setting wrong? when I apply the texture to an area it just shows up grey with the edge fader, like in the left lower corner

Thank you so much. That fixed the issue. :)
Thanks, Monson! I was having the same trouble, and your posted solution worked like a charm.
