I was briefly obsessed with monasteries and abbeys and learned they have a fairly standard floorplan. See this example. You may not be interested in floorplans but this is the general shape of most of them.
Though the "standardised" abbey plan only really works - if sometimes quite loosely - for medieval European monastic sites, notably those of the Cistercian and Benedictine orders.
