Unable to trace entities created with multipoli

I created a entity using the multipoli function to make the floor of a cave. I found that when I wanted to Trace using a tool, the Trace would not pick that entity as if it simply didn't exist.
Is there something I need to do for the trace to detect the entity?

You need to explode it again first, and then re-multipoly it when you are done with it.
Multipolies aren't editable or traceable.
Depending on the circumstances it can be easier to use a Color Key to cut the holes. That way you can trace it without all that exploding and re-multipolying.
