No toolbars

Hi,
Apparently out of the blue, I lost all buttons in my toolbars:
I expect this would be fixed by reinstalling or repairing, but I wanted to know if there's something I should try first.

Have you tried shutting it down and reopening CC3?
And have you installed the latest update from your account page (Update 27)
Yes, this happened post-update27, but not immediately afterwards.
I've tried closing and reopening CC3+, but can't recall if I've done a restart (I think I did). Worth a try.
A restart of CC3, I mean, not your machine.
There are a couple of other things to consider.
Did you install as the administrator in all cases (right click the installer and pick run as administrator)
I don't think so. I usually just wait for installers to prompt for admin privileges.
Did you allow CC3 to open if that was requested by an installer, or did you uncheck the box and not let it open?
Yes, I usually do let the installer open the installed program afterwards.
Did you get any error messages when installing things?
None.
But then again, after the update I did use CC3+ for some time before this bug appeared. Which is the weirdest part of this issue.
BTW, restarting the machine didn't help.
Ok. How about trying a second install with the update? It may or may not offer a repair, but it should run either way.
This is a real wild card, since I'm more of an artist than a tech, but Remy had this suggestion to a similar but not identical issue a while back. You could try this?
I recommend closing CC3 and running that exe file from the directory.
Hmm.. neither worked.
Though I should add (for the record, if anything) that CC3MenuConfig.exe didn't display anything. I don't know if it's meant to run silently or if it crashed.
Anyway, I'll try reinstalling in a couple of hours.
I'm sorry none of that worked, roflo.
You could try contacting Tech Support for help before reinstalling everything to see if they have an answer to this.
Yeah, I guess I'll do that.
Maybe doing so can help debugging this for future users.
This is true.
Have you tried simply opening a different map? Even if you are missing the open button, you can just double click on a map file in the file explorer to open it in CC3+. Try with two different map types, such as both an overland and a dungeon map.
Maps load the appropriate toolbar when started, but CC3+ remembers the current toolbar if nothing changes it, so if the current toolbar is bad/corrupted/something, simply loading a new map forces CC3+ to load a different toolbar as well.
I gave it a go, but no luck.
Still no toolbars. Not even the menu bar.
EDIT: for completeness.. here's a screenshot of the whole window (screen tools window shown for reference):
Silly question. But have you clicked on that hammer, lower right, are any of the menus listed there checked ?
I think this is a Tech Support question. I also don't understand why there would be a black section across the top middle of the frame like that.
But have you clicked on that hammer, lower right, are any of the menus listed there checked ?
Yes, see my previous screenshot.
I also don't understand why there would be a black section across the top middle of the frame like that.
Oh, that I blacked that out. Heh. Should have pointed that out. Out of habit, I guess... I can't think of a reason why the path would be sensitive information.
I doubt it's an issue with the icon bars, because the menu bar is missing. Just above the Status Bar, you have the menus... [File], [Edit]. [View], etc...
Those are not visible when I open CC3+ in this machine.
So it is!
I hadn't noticed that where the whole appearance was of blankness.
Turns out that my FCW32.MNU is blank. Don't know how or why that happened.
Anyway, I'm in the process of repairing but I stumbled into a problem, I wanted to see if anyone here can help (I've also asked this to support)..
The CC3+ installer doesn't offer a "Repair" option. So I went to Windows' program manager (sorry, can't remember the name in English ATM; but it's the place where you can uninstall programs).
Anyway, there I can right click and select "Change", and the installer will be executed with the options to remove or repair. The problem is that if I choose "Repair" it tells me to "Please locate your original setup sources to continue operation", and it won't accept the folder where the installer executable is located.
Any ideas?
Programs and Features is what Control Panel shows me.
It doesn't give me Repair for CC3+, only Uninstall or Change.
Not going to touch it though.
edit.
Since you do have the check boxes in the Hammer window...
Have you tried unchecking one, closing CC3+, then opening it again.
Then add the check mark back in, close CC3+.
Open it again, and see if any appear ?
Ah, yes... "Change" is the one that then allows you to repair.
Have you tried downloading the current version and then trying installing it again without uninstalling CC3? It should detect your current install and offer the option to repair. At least that is what most programs do.
Oddly enough, that's just what I tried. But it tells me instead that there's already an installation in that folder and that I should uninstall first.
Anyway, I started uninstalling everything. I guess I'll go for a clean install.
Its probably for the best, since it sounds like something stripped that file out. The something is the problem, not the file it ate. So a fresh install should get rid of anything that isn't right. Unless you are on limited or slow broadband, and if you haven't started the reinstall yet, can I suggest you redownload the installers?
Would have been a good idea. Sadly, I'm almost done by now.
Did it work?
Hi,
Yes! Everything seems to be running smoothly now.
I decided not to install FT3+ (yet) because it's been waiting for me to stop discovering CC3+ and DD3 first. ;)
Thanks for the help, and for keeping an eye on this thread.
Good, I'm glad you got it to working.
