Understanding Master Filters Settings

I've been having a blast figuring out how to create new styles, and I'm not sure I've pinned down how Master Filters Settings are "assigned" to a given map.
For example, I created a sample map using a style I'm creating. I go to Symbols -> Master Filter Settings -> Load -> "My Master Filter" and voilà... I can access my catalogs from the chosen "MENUDM".
But... if I save my map, close CC3+, and reopen it, the Master Filter reverts to something else (I believe the one for the "base style" I used originally).
So: Where is my chosen Master Filter saved?
My instinct tells me it should be saved on a per-map basis, but I'm not seeing that. Am I missing some configuration/macro?

The master filter is loaded in the OnOpenMacro map note in each individual map. (The SYMICONFLOAD command)
Thanks!
I knew I had to be missing something. I never connected the dots between Symbols -> Master Filter Settings and the value of Symbols -> Symbol Settings -> [Master filter]. Or rather... I connected too many dots?
I named them differently, so I mixed them up.
