CC3+ version 3.96 - Public Beta
Hi folks!
If you want to try out the newest version of CC3+, update 26 is now available from your registration page (click the CC3+ download button to access it). It does have some internal changes, displays certain dialogs and windows more nicely and contains a few new toys to play around with (version notes below). As a beta, there may well still be a few glitches and issues, so only install it if your comfortable with that.
If you experience any problems or have questions, post in the thread below or email me at ralf@profantasy.com.

Thank you very much, Profantasy :D
Will Remy be tempted to write one of his wonderful blogs about all the new toys, I wonder...
Unless Ralf beats me to it, I can do that.
You are just awesome, Remy :D
Done, Ralf.
I'll take it for a ride with a new map and let you know how it goes.
Okay, I didn't get far. I got this message immediately after opening:
And true to its word, Save is now disabled.
Thank you for taking the time to test this! Please report this problem to technical support via the ProFantasy website. It's likely that the license information with the serial number is missing or damaged.
It asked me for my serial number, I supplied the one for Campaign Cartographer 3 Plus.
Not the Upgrade one.
License key is invalid, save disabled.
When I try the Upgrade key, it says it is invalid.
Tried installing again, same error message. I looked in Control panel programs and features and it says I am still at version 3.94.
I'll contact tech support.
When I installed the upgrade the license key was automatically filled in, so I just left it as it was and carried on. I'm not having a save problem at all.
It didn't auto fill for me. So I copied and pasted.
I do have my older computer with CC3+ on there if I need to map. If I need to map... hmmm... I think I need a break anyway. My cell will alert me to any emails.
I had the same Serial not valid error. I am on a Win 10 21H1 system.
My fix was to do a total deinstall of CC3+. (Let the program delete files, don't delete anything manually.) Restart the computer. Reinstall CC3+ only. Now install the patch, mine picked up the serial number of the CC3+ installation this time and it was valid. I did get an error message, it couldn't locate Fcw32.mac. I checked, the file was there. I clicked on Abort three times then it installed woth no further issues.
I then repaired one of my add-ons, in my case Perspectives 3. Afdter running the repair I launched CC3+ and all was back and good.
All this said, it is a Beta release. I emailed the information to support so they can try to recreate.
I would like to see a tutorial on the new toys that are now in the toy chest. 😉
Mike V.
I went with repair using version 25 so I can get back to making maps.
My Fcw32.mac appeared and disappeared, and it is back.
Count me in, but I'm going to wait a bit till these early bugs are dealt with! heh. I'm adding cities to my Estonisch map for players and can't take any downtime atm.
Brilliant, though!

A new version of the Update 26 is up, which should fix the House command reported elsewhere.
I've fiddled with the serial number, making sure it is written to the registry even from the Update. If you can, please give it a try if you previously had the problem with the invalid serial message.
I will download and install it even though I didn't have trouble with the serial number - to test the House issues for you.
I can confirm that the House button is now working as expected.
Maybe one of the others can confirm that the serial number issue has been sorted out?
The fix Ralf suggested work, I am up and running with 26Beta.
Yeehaa !
I just downloaded this last night. I like the way you re-organized the tools. The tools I use the most are now on the left side of the screen which is where I go naturally to use them. Also it looks like you did something the graphics somehow? I think the maps look a bit clearer now? Maybe I'm just seeing things. I haven't run into any bugs yet but will report if I do.
@kevbeck43 um, I think you may have something unintended happen there. There haven't been any re-organizations of the tools. The UI/layout should be exactly as before.
Did not have any problems after having installed the first Beta.
But with the latest Beta I get these errors and an invalid serial...
😕
@WeathermanSweden do you own Perspectives 3 (and have it installed)?
@Monsen yes, I own all products inclusive Perspectives 3 - and yes - I installed everything...
CC2Per.dll has appeared (again?) in the installation directory I think... is this not the dll file that one should remove earlier...
Only if one don't own Perspectives. If you do, it is supposed to be there. Is the path to the data dir in the @.ini file in your installation directory still correct?
@Monsen I usually have the Program Files (x86) on C and the Program Data directory on D. The @ini file still points correctly to that location - but now I discovered that the Update has installed everything into a new Data directory on C...without asking me...
So everything seems to be messed up totally. I spent some hours by installing the original CC3+ 3.94 and updating it by Update 25, 26 and 26a - without success. I copied a backup over the C Program Files and the D Program Data directories an got the 3.94 version to work again.
What I noticed is that sometimes my serial was filled in automatically, sometimes I had to fill in my serial number manually and then the serial was invalid (as mentioned above by other users). I always run my installations as an administrator. At some point all my buttuns to all the other products disappeared (only CC3+, DD3 and CD3 were left...)
Does the update 26a install everything into C Program Data even if an earlier version is situated e.g. on D?
Greetings,
André
PS: The new Program Data directory on C is about 590 Mb (a clean CC3+ install with no further content) while my old on D is about 60 Gb (with all content) - that is why I do not want to have it on C... 😊
I love having a new update...BUT [warning: serious grumble ahead]
There are far too many good operations that have to be done via the command line. That is not really the problem; rather it is remembering what commands there are that you want to use.
I really hope more commands can be put into the right-click menus. EDITSHADING would be a good one for when doing shaded polygons by edge; so would the new offset commands be good to be part of the Draw>Offset submenu. We have the various selection exclusion commands in the Draw menu - why can't we have more.
Finally, there needs to be an urgent addition to the help menu for when we forget the actual details of running the command.
I hope you can get the picture. While CC3+ continues ti get better, it is now a real chore to try to remember what options you have, and what the darned command name is.
Grumble finished (for now). 😈
I wouldn't mind a few more keyboard shortcuts. Like Distance, which I use often. And one to bring up the square or hex overlay popup.
