Using forest terrain with other symbols present. (CC3+)

So I'm creating my first map and have a question about the forest terrain tool. I have cities/towns/villages placed on the map already and I want to use the Mixed Forest terrain to select the entire area all at once but the trees cover up the settlements. Is there a setting that will make the trees not spawn on top of the settlement symbols?
In-game, the settlements are located in a dense forest so dropping a few trees here and there just wouldn't look right. I've tried making the forest a section at a time while placing the draw points around the settlement symbols, but the end result just looks sloppy. It would also be helpful if I could get the same thing to happen to avoid spawning tress under road paths.

Not directly. I recommend drawing around the settlements with the tool, then placing individual trees after that along the edges to give a tighter fit (And finish off with a sort symbols in map to arrange them properly.)
There is also the exclusion commands, this allows you to specify areas to exclude, but this only work with polygons, not symbols.
Dang, that would be a nice feature to have. Thanks for the fast reply!
You can also put the settlements on a SYMBOLS SETTLEMENTS Sheet, and have it lower in the list than the forest symbols.
I just did what Monsen suggested, it worked out pretty well. I might have to try that out though in the future to see how it works.
