Question About Splitting Polygons and Applying Different Effects to Them
Hello,
I want to create an effect that applies to one side of a polygon and not the other.
To do this, I drew the polygon then I split it into two paths and then I drew a new line down the center and connected it to one of the paths. Then I traced over each side with a draw tool to get two polygons. (BTW this seems too complicated to be the correct way to do this. Is it?)
After this, I applied an edge fade, inner effect to one of the polygons and a different edge fade, inner effect to the other. My goal is to get a nice transition in transparencies throughout the two polygons.
The problem I’m running into is that the line the polygons share can be seen. I’m pretty sure this is happening because each polygon’s different transparencies are stacking and causing the shared line’s transparency to be higher than the rest of the two polygons.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

You need to overlap the polygons to the extent of the greatest Edge Fade Inner effect. I recommend overlapping them more than that in case you change your mind and make one of the effects wider in the future.
Thanks Sue. I'll give this a shot.
