Help with using Bevel, Lighted to create natural-looking cliffs

Hello,
I’m trying to make natural-looking cliffs by applying a Bevel, Lighted sheet effect to polygons filled with a natural stone bitmap. The cliffs look unnatural, however, because the intensity of the bevel is the same throughout the entire polygon. Is there a way to have different levels of intensity for the Bevel, Lighted throughout the polygon to give it a more natural look and/or is there a different method to accomplish this?
Thanks

Hi Zemon :)
There isn't a way to vary the effect itself, but you can modify it's appearance by adding more sheets with different effects over the top of that basic bevelled shape.
What type of map are you making?
Hi Sue,
Thanks for your response! That's too bad but good to know.
I'm making a 300-foot by 200-foot outside dungeon map that has 2 cliffs -- each taking up 1/3 of the map on the sides and a river running between them. I'm then adding a few rocky elevated islands in the center of the river (not sure the correct geographical term) and a bridge connecting the two cliffs with a winding dirt path leading to the bridge.
My current plan to make the map look better is to ditch the bevel and use the technique found in this tutorial.
However, I'm open to any ideas. :)
Thanks
That's a good idea, zemon.
If you have any difficulty working from scratch like that, Hans Anders Bergström's technique was incorporated into the Watercolour Maps issue of the 2019 Cartographer's Annual here:

Thanks, Sue! I purchased the 2019 Cartographer's Annual this morning, and I going to try out that technique later today.
