SciFi Outpost - the Files

Hi folks! I've been designing and constructing more science fiction paper models that could be useful for tabletop and rpg gamers. Is anyone here interested in the source files for their own uses? I'll be adding a few examples in the thread below, and if there is interest, I can prepare the rest and future ones as well. Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see.

As a first file, here is the Communications Tower that I created in a Live Mapping session, both as FCW and PDF file.
Next up is the first of the building module: the Operations Center.
And the small crates, useful as scatter terrain around the board.
These are seriously cool. Not using physical miniatures myself, but I still love these models.
Beautiful work, Ralf :)
Well, if you fancied a challenge, something on the lines of the old UFO TV series' Moonbase would be interesting to see as a paper model.
The image is from this fan Wiki page:
https://shado.fandom.com/wiki/SHADO_Moonbase .
However, there's a note on that page to say the site will be migrated elsewhere "in the next few weeks", so if the plan images might be of use too, I'd recommend saving a copy now, rather than chance waiting.
I don't think this has been done as a paper model before, though there was a plastic kit many years ago, and someone has produced the STL files for a 3D print now.
This thread is great, and is a great resource!
The Everquest 2 wiki did that migration, the links/pages are at the same location/url.
Got the images and printed to pdf anyway.
These are really fantastic.
It honestly looks like prototyping for a sci-fi movie or TV show.
Okay, here are a few more...
Building #2, the laboratory.
Stairs, bridges and steps for the building entrances...
And movable walls or fences. I printed the yellow piece on a transparency sheet and glued it into the opening to create a force field effect.
These are fantastic - very inspiring
Downloaded.
I'm beginning to wish I had a bigger place to be able to make these models.
We, that at least challenged me to try my hand at a geodesic dome. Found a few nice templates on the web, and this is my CC3 version....
Wow! :D
Awesome!
Yes, the original domes are really evil, because they're actually base-flattened spheres with variably-sized hexagons and pentagons scribed into the spheroidal surface, so whatever else is done, that can't be reproduced in a paper model!
I did come across a comment online that suggested one experienced model-maker was working on a paper model of the Moonbase for download by others back in early 2011, though unfortunately, nothing ever seemed to have come of that.
@Wyvern Have you looked up geodesic domes ? There are some that are 3/4, 5/8, and 3/8 of a sphere.
I have Domebook 2 somewhere, but no idea which storage box it might be in.
These modules are great. Futhermore, a cheap solution for making miniature games. if they could be easily translated to a 3D printer, that would be terrific!!
Yes, these are not hostile environment buildings. :) The font used is "Mass Effect Game 123".

Oh, I've been designing (often badly) and making (moderately successfully at times...) paper models and miniatures for many decades now - since I was a kid - so I have a lot of computer files for vast amounts of these, and I can never find what I want when I need it quickly either...
The problem's not so much making the geodesic domes cut-down as the fact the originals (the SHADO/UFO Moonbase ones) were actually cut-down spheres, rather than geodesic shapes. Of course, any such domes used in the real world would almost certainly be geodesic, because of being much easier to mass-produce as shaped panels on Earth, then ship and construct them in extremely hostile environments (like the surface of the Moon).
Indeed. Many radar domes for arctic conditions are geodesic.
I was going to build myself a geodesic home when I was substantially younger, but that didn't happen.
I've created a few more buildings in the meantime and I thought I'd add them to the thread. Here's Building 3, the generic habitation module.
Building 4, the
Armory.
The building hub to connect the modules together.
The satellite dish, by the far the most complex piece so far.
