Help with Selecting Text - Newbie

I am brand new to this, so I apologize if I am missing an obvious link or how-to guide. I am having the hardest time selecting a block of text on the map with the tool tip (for erasing, editing, etc.) without also selecting a bunch of underlying elements on the map. Can someone help me?

    Generally speaking, the easiest approach is to hide all the sheets except the one with what you want to select. It isn't *always* the best approach, like if you're trying to move something relative to something else, but it usually works.

    Also note that text are only selectable via the baseline. Clicking correctly may help since you can select it directly, and not use a selection rectangle, which will almost always result in much other stuff being selected.

    You can also use more advanced selection techniques to select only text by using the AND modifier and entity type text. More about advanced selection procedures.
