This is my first time of posting a map on here, but I thought I would have a go.

The map is intended for my use only but it goes with a short story I'm working on.

I've done two versions - a pure CC3 map and one that has the Mike Schley mountain symbols.

What works and what doesn't and why?

The text feels a bit overwhelming on this map. My advice is to reduce the size of it, and use consistent sizes. Also, I recommend using the same color on all the text, right now, all those colors takes attention away from the map itself. I would also have changed the drop shadow effect on the text to an outer glow instead. Black text with a narrow outer glow (or white text with a black glow) should be easily visible on all backgrounds.

Having removed everything I see just how busy the text is, and I'll have a play with it.

The font type used for all labels should be consistent throughout for a map style. I'd recommend avoiding "drop shadow" on any text sheet but different colors for different label types should be okay (although yellow for mountains seems a bit weird) as long as they have the same "outer glow" effect to define them. To scale the glow effects with the font size used would require a different text sheet for each label type.

yes, i agree with DaltonSpence, that drop shadow is very distracting to the eye. Also, i'm not sure i like the multicolors of the text. Perhaps keep the same color for each region instead?
