It is River watch, at the source of the Maidar river (use the modern Political map for better dtails on the region, with the Mike Schley for terrain). No specific notes - well and truly outside the nation of Elen Daelarion
Humans, elves, gnomes, or dwarves running it ? Do they still live there ? And do you want the river running through it ? Or coming out of the mountain in a different area ?
Schley overland. Color/Colour.
For the Dungeon I'll use DD3 Bogie and CSUAC 2 or DD3 Dungeon.
Abandoned by Elen Daelaraion, so whatever you like. The river's source is above the outpost, falling as a waterfall into a lake - just like Faramir's outpost in Lord of the Rings, book 3 Return of the King.
A very preliminary map. The template wanted to use 0.018 scale symbols. I changed that to 0.03. The corridor going towards the northwest will be the river valley. Most of the rest will be mountains, with patches of forest areas. The mountain with the cave opening will be where the River Watch is located. I hid the imported png for this so I could see areas that either need hills or forest.
Updated. Note I'll be busy on Wednesday, so I may or may not be posting maps. I just have to stay out of the way for the holiday. Anyway, I see I have missed a couple of spots to place trees in the northeast area. I have thought about a few cacti there, to really scare and/or confuse players.
Et voila ! Or something similar. Eyes are tired, I'm tired. I think I got it the way I want it. Except for the color square under the compass rose.
Took some effort.
Anyway, if someone wants to work on the druid villages area, I'll post the fcw as I don't think I'll be doing much more to this particular map. Unless someone wants changes... but those will likely be next weekend, or next week.
Where are the druid villages, Jim - perhaps some autumn coloured trees to make them stand out around the villages - spaced out, not too dense. i like the map
Under the word Druids is a druid symbol. Directly below him is a village, and there is one to the left, and one to the right. About on the same line. And one more below. Wood stockaded villages.
The scalebar and compass rose looks a bit "just thrown in there". I can see why you used a background on the compass rose with all the noise from the mountains, but that makes finding a nice position for it even more important. To make that background do it's jobb, and at the same time being a bit less a sore thumb, you should try adding a soft transparency and blur on it, thus giving a hint of what is behind it without letting the noise kill the compass rose.
Okay, need to rest my eyes so this is it for Monday, and I have some things to do Tuesday. Maybe later Tuesday I'll work on this.
I had a bit of a problem getting the cliff with two rivers to match the mesa. It still doesn't look right to me, left end of the cliff symbol. I tried to get the mountain to the left moved over so it would be a better match, but I kept dragging multiple mountains and gave up. I'll try again Tuesday or Wednesday. I should likely put 2 or 3 more mesas on the map so it being a mesa won't be a giveaway.
I tried to make a 1.2 mile by 0.75 mile Overland Schley or a Local Map. I got a large blank white area. No matter how I zoomed, I didn't see anything. So I used Spectrum 1 and 2, at 5 miles by 2.5 miles.
900 pixel wide jpg. I'll put a 2000 pixel jpg on my gallery.
Jim, any chance of sending your main region map to Monsen for the Atlas soon, if it is finished - I have the whole druid area with villages ready to go.
Comments
Think your note may be getting confused Jim. You've already done that location.
Thanks. I don't see number 13 on there. So I will do that one next.
Yea. 13 looks free.

Okay. I'll see what I can do.

This environs map is 18 miles by 14 miles.

Anyway, 900 pixel jpg.
Mostly mapped. Two evil areas in the forest valleys to the east.
What do you think of me placing druids in the southwest forest area ?
I might do more with this, the symbols weren't sorted this time, maybe add a ruins here and there.
900 pixel jpg.
Druids are always a nice addition.

Sounds good. I'll give that a try.
Worked for the compass rose, but not the druid villages. I'll post a detail jpg of the druid area.
The druid villages are scaled at 0.008 instead of 0.018.
900 pixel jpgs
I might do a few villages for fun.
Sounds good to me.
Do you need the fcw ? On my cell.
No, Jim. I'll knock up a village today.
Okay. I'll check back Friday or Saturday.
Jim, I've done the first village minus labelling, on a separate thread
They look good to me.

fixed it up a bit more. Yellow tree, green tree, or no tree for the fortress ? ( Psst. Its under the no tree mesa. )
900 pixel jpg. 200 pixel jpg in my gallery.

Are you going to do the village in your subregional map? If not, i wouldn't mind doing it. i will need a name though.
Go ahead and do the village. I won't be online much this coming week. Relative in the hospital, cancer.
Oh dear, I hope there is improvement. Keep well, Jim.
I'll do the village, and call it Maidarmer
