I had already placed a lighter color of water around the island to show the shallows and placed the waves at the edge of that. They do look pretty regular though... I was struggling with that. Any suggestions?
Maybe if you make a quick test map - call it Fred or Burt or something, and plonk a quick island in the middle of it, then set up an edge striping effect, and upload it here so that we can work out why. There's no good in having these things if we can't use them
I am also not sure that it would work with this style of map. Edge stripping would be nice though for the parchment maps and the new woodcut one I think.
There's also the OFFSET command, which is not a sheet effect and can look nice along a coastline, especially when used with a dashed or otherwise broken line.
The Offset Chain variation is particularly nice (Edit > Offsets > Offset Chain). You may feel that it doesn't fit your map either but, since you're experimenting, I thought I'd mention it.

Well worth the trouble, I think

Thanks again!

I will have to experiment with these just a little more.
I think the ocean portion of my maps have been giving me the most problem - LoL!
